The Winged Watchman
Written by Hilda van Stockum
One of Hilda van Stockum's best-known works, The Winged Watchman is
a story of courage and conviction. It tells the story of the Verhagen
family during the German occupation of Holland in World War II as they
become increasingly drawn into helping the Dutch resistance and
sheltering refugees, including an infant and a British airman, from the
Nazis. The story was based on the experiences of the author's
relatives.
